It contains new information under Summary and Safety and security: Terrorism and Civil unrest/political tension (on 14 May 2013, the Nigerian President declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states). We continue to advise Australians to reconsider their need to travel to Nigeria at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack, the high risk of kidnapping, the unpredictable security situation, the heightened risk of violent civil unrest and the high level of violent crime. We now advise Australians not to travel to Adamawa State as well as to other states in the north-east.

Since May 2013, planning has progressed to a point where a kidnapping operation targeting Westerners in Sudan, most likely Khartoum, could occur without further warning). We now assess that there is a high threat of terrorist attack in Sudan.
