General Exclusions From all Australia Post Policies

  • Travelling against medical advice if you are unfit for travel.

  • Claims for costs taking place outside of the insured period.

  • Theft or loss of cash.

  • Pregnancy after the 24th week of gestation.

  • Negligent behaviour resulting in damages to or loss of property or medical emergencies.

  • Participating in high-risk activities that are not covered automatically by Australia Post Travel Insurance, including mountaineering, hunting, quad biking, racing, skiing, snowboarding, abseiling, diving, base-jumping, or yachting.

  • Not heeding official government warnings to travel to a certain country or area.

  • Consequential loss of enjoyment or other financial loss.

  • Death by suicide or attempted suicide or other bodily harm.

  • Sexually transmitted diseases.

  • Reckless behaviour as a result of alcohol or drug abuse.

  • Any unlawful behaviour.

  • Failure to adhere to local immigration laws.

  • Failure to take precautions after advance warning against strikes, civil unrest or other group gatherings.

  • Travelling to a country where advance warnings are given for natural disasters, terrorism, or health reasons.

  • For faster, easier claims, you can claim online. Fill out a claim form, upload your documents and submit to Australia Post Travel Insurance.

  • You can claim via ordinary post by downloading a claim form, completing the form and posting back to Australia Post with original receipts and documents.
