* Comprehensive, Essential, and Last Minute policies do not cover travel within Australia.

* The Domestic policy doesn't cover any medical and evacuation expenses incurred in Australia.

* An Annual Multi-Trip policy provides cover for travel overseas as many times as is needed prior to the policy end-date, with the maximum duration for each trip being 30-days.

Age Limits for Budget Direct Policies

• All policies apply to applicants who are 18-years or older when applying for an insurance policy with Budget Direct.

• For Comprehensive and Domestic policies, insurance is available to travellers up to the age of 100 at the date of application.

• The Last Minute, Essential, and Annual Multi-Trip policies are available to travellers under the age of 75-years at the date of application.

Cooling-Off Period

If your Budget Direct policy is not suitable for you, you can cancel your policy within 14-days of purchasing it, provided that you have not made a claim or exercised any rights under the policy, and your trip has not yet commenced. You will receive a full refund if you cancel within the cooling-off period.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions Covered by Budget Direct

Budget Insurance only covers the pre-existing medical conditions listed below.

General Exclusions from all Budget Direct Policies

• Travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner.

• Travelling with a known medical condition that is not on the list of covered conditions.

• Travelling with the knowledge of a situation which could lead to you making a claim.

• Claims arising from suicide or attempted suicide by you or someone you are travelling with.

• Any claims arising from you using drugs or alcohol and behaving in a reckless manner.

• Claims arising from civil riots, blockades, or strikes for which there was advance warning.

• Travelling to a country or area where the Australian Government has advised against because of terrorism, extreme weather conditions, or health concerns.

• Driving a two-wheeled or three-wheeled vehicle without a proper helmet or a valid driver’s license for the country you are in.

• Any consequential loss of any kind, including loss of enjoyment or finances.

• Any claim arising from you behaving unlawfully.

• Insolvency of any airline, travel agent, tour operator, accommodation provider, or other service providers resulting in them not being able to provide an adequate service.

• Any claims related to pregnancy, childbirth or infant care.

Claims Process for Budget Direct

• Register your claim within 30-days of your completion of travel.

• Provide original documentation including invoices, receipts and other vouchers relating to your loss or expenses.

• Provide proof of ownership, proof of value or any lost, stolen or damaged items.

• Provide your insurance certificate with your claim.

• Provide all information to Budget Direct in English and in clear form.
