Types of Travel Cover Offered by Virgin
All of Virgin's travel insurance products are only available to residents of Australia who purchase the policy before departing, and only for journeys that start and end in Australia.
- Comprehensive Plan – available to travellers of all ages, Virgin's Comprehensive Plan provides the highest level of cover across all core benefits to individual travellers, duo's, and families.
- Essentials Plan - this plan provides cover across the most common benefits of travel insurance but is only available to travellers aged 74 years or under. It can be purchased for individuals, duo's, or families.
- Basic Plan - Virgin's Basic Plan provides medical only cover, and like the Essentials Plan, is only available to travellers aged 74 years or under.
- Domestic Plan – this plan provides cover within Australia only and excludes medical cover. It is available to travellers of all ages.
- Multi-Trip Plan – provides cover for people who take multiple trips per year but is only available to travellers aged 74 years and under. There is no limit to the number of trips that can be covered in a 12-month period, but any domestic trips must be to destinations at least 250 kilometres from your home. Cover is for one person only but accompanying partners and dependants can be covered for an additional premium.

The benefit limits shown above apply to Family Cover for the Comprehensive, Essentials, Basic, and Domestic Plans, and the Policy Limit for the Multi-Trip Plan. Sub-limits, exclusions, and specific conditions may apply, and these will be covered in the insurers Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
Virgin Travel Insurance automatically includes cover for 36 pre-existing medical conditions as long as none of the conditions have not required hospitalisation in the preceding 24 months. This is limited only to the Comprehensive and Multi-Trip plans. Full details of the pre-existing medical conditions that are automatically covered can be found in the insurers Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
Travellers must declare any pre-existing medical conditions that they are aware of, are being treated for, or have been treated for in preceding 24 months. In some instances, travellers may have to submit to a medical assessment before Virgin agrees to cover any medical conditions not automatically covered and may charge an additional premium for this. Not doing so can result in claims relating directly or indirectly to a pre-existing medical condition not being honoured.
Travel Alerts Affecting Virgin Travel Insurance
Travel cover can be affected, and claims declined whenever there is an active travel alert for your planned destination issued by a government, official body, or via mass media, including advice not to travel or to reconsider travel to particular country or region. Travel alerts that could affect your cover can be found at www.allianzpartners.com.au/travel-insurance/travel-alerts/.
